Dear Refuge

Sometimes life can be summed up in a few lines of an old hymn.

Dear refuge of my weary soul
On Thee, when sorrows rise
On Thee, when waves of trouble roll
My fainting hope relies.

To Thee I tell each rising grief
For thou alone canst heal
Thy Word can bring a sweet relief
For every pain I feel.

But oh! When gloomy doubts prevail
I fear to call Thee mine;
The springs of comfort seem to fail
And all my hopes decline.

But gracious God! Where shall I flee?
Thou art my only trust -
And still my soul would cleave to Thee
Though prostrate in the dust.

Hast Thou not bid me seek Thy face?
And shall I seek in vain?
And can the ear of sovereign grace
Been deaf when I complain?
No, still the ear of sovereign grace
Attends the mourner's prayer -
Oh may I ever find access
To breathe my sorrows there.

Thy mercy seat is open still
Here let my soul retreat
With humble hope attend Thy will -
And wait beneath Thy feet.

Wow. The new blog colors are delightful - they definitely suit you! And where did you find that picture...? It's breathtaking!

I'm praying for you Hannah - things are going to get much better from here. Trust and believe in the anchor of your soul. Hope in God does not disappoint.

p.s. Merry Christmas!!!

Thank you sir... I love black and red and vintage pictures... but the black can be so - I don't know - black!!! Hard to rejoice when you're staring at darkness. ;) So, even as I feel renewed myself, I decided to renew my blog with some COLOR!!!

Speaking of which... I LOVE your remix as well!!!! Heather and Amy and I were blog-surfing last night, happened upon yours, and all collectively "ooohed" and "aaahed" plenty. (!)

The picture I found on deviant art. Thanks to you!!! ;)

And thank you, finally, for your prayers. The Lord is indeed good to His people.

Great! It makes me think of taking an old hymn book of hymns I've never heard, looking for ones like this one, and then writing music for it.

Hannah -

Ps. 25 [all of it]
Ps. 28:6-9
Ps. 30:5

I thought you might find those encouraging. It was nice to see you tonight.

p.s. Christmas is coming. And that means many, many good things - one of them being you getting a present [or two!]. ;)

God bless.
